Two Minutes In The Box: The New Pocket Protector

Two Minutes In The Box: The New Pocket Protector My friend GKL, posted about those people who use BlueTooth headsets. I think I have a solution to the problem. If you insist on using something with your cell phone, it has to be this ...

Between the... what's that called again? sheets!

Arial wishes for real female genitilia... Very, very good remake of the Part of Your World tune from Little Mermaid.

Yeah, it's kinda like this...

Granny Sue Teller shows how to mash it up!

An important film.

I just received an email from our-kids about one of our members. She is a long time member and I have come to know her as a friend. She knows the guy who made this film, and I was quite moved by the story. I look forward to being able to see it in it's entirety. While things are not as bad today as they were back then, there is still a lot of push to institutionalize children who society puts no value on. And to a lesser extent, to not allow children such as mine the same chance at getting an education in their local school. They pat themselves on the back for letting him sit in the segregated room, away from the rest of the school population, and don't understand why we fight so hard to have him included in the typical classroom setting... Before I go off on a rant, here is a bit of the text from her posting, with links that I encourage you all to visit. Thanks. Tonight a good friend and I attended a showing of a film made here in Oregon (by a fellow who went to my high ...

Oh, so you're an Internet addict, huh?

People like this guy really piss me off! WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - A man who was fired by IBM for visiting an adult chat room at work is suing the company for $5 million, claiming he is an Internet addict who deserves treatment and sympathy rather than dismissal. Dude, if you are going to get your perv on at work, it's your own damn fault if you get caught. To make it worse, they already warned him 4 months earlier about his use of the Internet at work. However, where this starts to affect me is when he tries to hide behind the Americans with Disabilities Act. This isn't a disability asshole, it's a choice! We fight enough battles in the world of special needs kids without having dipshits like this muddy up the waters.

Mr. Munroe, you sir, are my new hero

You know how that Liberal dessert is

Image
Stephen Colbert has a Ben and Jerry's ice cream flavor named after him. It's called "Americone dream", and according to the AP story , leaves "The sweet taste of liberty in your mouth." Colbert says "I'm not afraid to say it. Dessert has a well-known liberal agenda," Colbert said in a statement. "What I hope to do with this ice cream is bring some balance back to the freezer case."

Happy Valentines Day

What Would Betty Do?

Image
Check out Betty's newsletter to get her take on Lisa Nowak and Anne Nicole Smith. OK, so I am a heathen, but she makes me laugh out loud ! A couple of great lines: Truly, it makes one despair for the state of health care in this country when a 39 year-old traveling with her own private nurse can't get a simple heroin dosage right. But we shouldn't be too quick to impugn the no doubt frazzled nurse's skills. After all, it must have taken a trained eye to discern that Anna was actually unconscious instead of just giving another cataleptic interview to Entertainment Tonight. As Laura "Pickles" Bush remarked to me at breakfast this morning: "The killing? Now, that I can understand. Trust me. But the not stopping five minutes for a poop and a ciggy? Why, that's a big ole batch of bug-eyed crazy!"

Rocket sled to hell, Part II

Father Charged in Child's Exposure Death By Associated Press PITTSBURGH - The father of a young girl who died of exposure had knocked her unconscious because he was angry, then took her outside in subfreezing temperatures and left her there, police said before the man's arraignment Thursday. Nyia Miangel Page, who was about to turn 2, was found dead Sunday on a wooded knoll about a 10 minute walk from the family's home. Tiny footprints in the snow suggested she had gotten up and wandered around before she died, police said.

First do no harm?

I saw this report last night about hospitals and was truly stunned. As a parent of a child with special needs, who cannot speak for himself, we have to be at his side every visit to the doctor to make sure we convey his needs accurately to the medical staff. What about other people who don't have someone sitting there watching their every move? Skyler has on average about 1 1/2 to 2 surgeries a year. This is scary as hell, you think that he is getting the best care possible, but check out this one doctors numbers: 40 to 50 incidents of harm for every 100 patients . 44,000 to 98,000 killed every year by their care ! Watch the CBS Video here.

I believe this is the rocket sled to hell

Dad Accused of Using Stun Gun on Baby By Associated Press Mon Feb 5, 8:17 ALBANY, Ore. - An Albany father used a 100,000-volt stun gun on his 18-month-old son, police said Monday. Rian Whittman, 23, has been accused of assault and criminal mistreatment. Police said he used it "multiple times" over three weeks. A police spokesman said there were up to 10 instances. Police said Whittman's wife, 21, who was not named, reported the abuse on Saturday. The child was treated at a hospital, police said, and then taken into protective custody by the state Department of Human Services. Capt. Eric Carter said the police haven't established a motive for the abuse, nor why it began about three weeks ago. He said the device was not a Taser weapon, named for the manufacturer, but an older model that's applied directly to someone's skin.

Super Bowl Review

Game - Sloppy mess, not too exciting, nothing you are going to recall years from now as a classic moment. Commercials - Poor effort, I didn't laugh out loud once, some had already been introduced a month ago. Halftime Entertainment - Prince was pretty damn good, especially his cover of All along the watchtower. Best part of the evening.

How long do you have to work out before you look good enough to work out?

From AP via Comcast news, Dutch Gym to Introduce 'Naked Sunday' AMSTERDAM, Netherlands - Self-conscious about what you wear while working out? A Dutch gym plans to introduce "Naked Sunday" for people who like to huff and puff in the buff. Patrick de Man, owner of Fitworld gym in the town of Heteren , said he got the idea in part from two of his customers who are avid nudists. Oh but this is the best part... Nude exercisers would be required to put towels down on weight machines and to use disposable seat covers while riding bikes. All machines would be cleaned and disinfected afterward. "We clean them every day anyway," he said. Every day might just amount to 50 sets of flabby butt cheeks on my machine, clean that damn thing after every use there bubba ! And that disposable butt cover is going to look really nice hanging out of my ass when I get off of the bike after spin class...
