Thanks everyone

I appreciate everyone's response to my venting and all the suggestions and listening. We are working on how to get ourselves some time and help.

I am pulling down that post though, because it is upsetting to some folks.

Updated: I should have clarified that it was upsetting to some who thought that they are not helping enough. No worries.

  1. I found the post sad, but not upsetting. Sometimes there is just an end to what you can do and you move on to what you must accept. It also comes with a reevaluation of how you envision living onward and perhaps a readjustment there as well. Our dreams are just our dreams; not their's. And we have to accept that.

  2. Still sending out positive thoughts your way. I hope things start getting better.

  3. I hadn't yet had a spare moment to stop and comment, but I was glad to see that you were finally able to put your thoughts into words. It took a lot of courage to admit that sometimes it's just too much. I can't even begin to imagine how much time and energy you two put into loving and caring for Skyler and I'm sure you are both exhausted, physically and mentally. I wish I lived closer because I'd happily volunteer to come over, even for a couple hours, so you could get a break.

Your post didn't make me sad or upset because it's just the plain truth. I hope you don't feel guilty for having those feelings. They are legitimate and real and need to be expressed. Denying them or holding them in isn't productive or helpful to anyone in your family.

I love you tons and tons, Skydad. I respect what you do and am proud of you for being honest about your feelings.

  4. People are upset because you are not super-human?

    Are they Titans?

  5. I don't know what's going on, because it's gone. But I want you to know how wonderful I think you are. Not just because you are so giving and kind, but because you're human and funny and loving, too. And I like that in a man.

    Hugs, my friend.

  6. As much as some people might be upset for you posting it (unless it's Skyler or Kathy), I can only imagine how upset you are because you all are living it.

Venting is necessary to keep a level head. You know we care about ALL of you, so if you need to write a "negative" post every so often, I (for one) understand.

On a personal note, I hate it when people minimize my feelings because it's too upsetting to think about. Well, it's not exactly a bowl of cherries to live it either. lol!

  9. Being Skyler's mom and dad, you two automatically feel a greater responsibility to him. Good parents always do! My mom actually told me, "I don't have to go"...on a honeymoon with her 2nd hubby!

It sounds like the people around you are willing to help. Please, let them. : )

E-mail me if you ever need to 'talk'.

  10. When I am too stressed I pop out a post. Sure it is not happy and chipper and all. But most often it helps me get that anxiety and worry out some. Thus I feel a lil better. Soon I look and go....oh here is an answer....and things start looking up. So I was glad to see you use your site to help yourself. That is what it is there for. WE are all just the vultures looking in.

  11. I didn't catch the original post but I'm pretty sure I have an idea. Know that you are an amazing human and an exceptional parent, and that what is asked of you and Kathy every day is extraordinary and a bit unfair. You've been at this a LOT of years and sacrificed so much. I think it's fair for you to be allowed to feel the down side.

  12. I always hate to see it when someone pulls a post down. It was written to express how you felt at the moment and, if you're like me, putting down those feelings is very cathartic in itself and therefore, helps. Anyone reading that should understand and if they don't, that's their problem I say. This blog is for you, not for anyone else Skydad.
