The end of an era
Today was my last early morning workout. This has been coming for awhile now, since Skyler has been growing so much. He is getting a bit too big for my wife to get up and about in the morning, so I will be switching my workout to a later time.
It is a bit weird, there is a core group of us that have been meeting at Ballys for a long time and working out together. Then we would meet for coffee and go our separate ways.
I will miss our morning get-togethers, and the peer pressure of getting up at 4:30 to make it to the 5:00 opening. But I will enjoy a bit of sleep in the morning!
Most of all I will miss my friends at coffee...

Perhaps you will make new friends at the later work out time and go for a beer afterwards.
ReplyDeletePS: I did not like that first diddy about coffee, scary.
I'll second Cheer's comment re: later workout and beer... although it could impact the quality of the workout results.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry for your loss. Change can suck at first, but it always turns out as it should.
Any chance you can skip the workout, get Skyler ready a tad earlier, then meet for coffee? :-)
Yea! More sleep!
ReplyDeleteCheer: I will still be a morning person, just later in the morning. I know a few of the folks who show up at 7:00, so it will work out.
ReplyDeleteDidn't mean to scare you, it was a bit intense, wasn't it?
GKL: sleep will be good. between getting up about 4 times a night with Skyler and then getting up so early, I have been in sleep deprivation mode for years.
We were looking at our ID cards the other day, I joined in 1989, and had the second longest tenure there.
5 a.m.??? Wow. I thought I worked out early in the morning at 8 a.m.
ReplyDeleteGrant: That will be the new time that I start working out. I am looking forward to the extra sleep, zzzzzzzzzzzz
ReplyDeleteOuch.
ReplyDeleteAs Jake would say, "Touche!"
Wow, and to think, my wife and I just started our early morning workouts. We don't have kids yet, so we'll see how long it lasts. Got to get rid of the spare tire!

Anon: Huh?
ReplyDeleteI can only imagine what it's like to have such a routine for so long, then to have to change it up.
ReplyDeleteYou'll see some things you haven't seen before; one of the great things about even small changes. Plus, with your energy, I know you'll find something in the new schedule that makes you wish you'd done it sooner.
Michael: The first thing I noticed was that my eyes were open.
ReplyDeleteThe second thing I noticed was the girls that time of the morning are a lot cuter!
