Handicapped Assessable

Handicapped Assessable. What does it mean to you? We have seen some pretty poor modifications in our time of pushing Skyler around, but absolutely nothing that compares to this series of pictures from overseas.

I will never complain again! (well, yes I will, but only when I really need to...)

  1. I know this is frustrating for you, but I burst out laughing at a couple of these. I can't believe how stupid and insensitive they are.

  2. Holy cow! That scares the crap out of me just looking at it!

  3. Unbelievable - some of these have got to be Photoshopped or faked - are humans really THAT stupid?

  4. Some of them are VERY creative. However, still very crude, thrown together with no respect for those on heels. I will never claim an engineer is less than intelligent again.

I am glad you don't have to deal with that

  6. I would say those are "unbelievable" except that was pretty much par for the course in Poland. I often wondered how people get around. That being said, you hardly ever saw ppl out and about in chairs, period. Probably because it would have been so difficult. In fact, I always assumed those ramps were really for moms with prams, because they were pretty worthless otherwise.

Especially like the photo with the huge urns of flowers blocking every landing. Gah!

  7. Are You Kidding ME?

    That shit's MORE than crazy.

    Horrific is more like it.

  8. Oh my lord... those look like torture devices, not helping devices!

  9. Makes you kinda glad we have rules and regulations here. Although we like to complain about how difficult them make our lives...they also make them much easier on other levels.

  10. I love the ones that are so steep that even a person walking couldn't descend them without breaking a leg. Flipping genius!

  12. The ADA (and its regulations, government actions, and private lawsuits to enforce it), certainly has had a good impact in this country, hasn't it? Not perfect, I'm sure, but wow, those photos really show how bad it can be without some decent rules (and/or enforcement of those rules) about access!!

  13. He obviously needs to take lessons from Steve McQueen's ghost before he goes overseas, and learn how to drive on only two wheels.

  14. *cringing*

I wonder what the head-injury rate is? So unfortunate.

  19. At first glance, I thought these were skateboarding or rollerblading ramps.

Either the wheelchairs or other mobility devices in those countries are build to climb walls or someone really doesn't get it.

I think the sad part is that some people think ramps with that angle are helping the handicapped.

  20. Are you kidding me?!?! I'd call most of those attempted murder!

  21. I can relate now and I'm not even in a wheelchair. I get mad when there's no button to open the door.

  22. Do people expect handicapped people to use those?? How could they? Id be scared to walk down some of em
