Memes, Awards, Quizes, Oh My!
I haven't been ignoring anyone lately, it has just been quite busy with work and vacation.
OK, that sounds so damn lame even as I type it, let me just say that I have a serious lazy non-followthru gene in me that takes over every now and then. I have the best intentions, but they say the road to hell is paved with those. Well fellow boggers, I am piloting the rocketsled to hell on tracks made of part titanium and part my intentions!
Let me start with the good stuff, awards!! Yippee, somebody out there thinks I am their Sally Fields, you like me, you really like me!!
The amazing Jules has bestowed upon me a superior scribbler award that is dripping with awesome sauce:
Check that bad boy out. Pretty sweet, huh? Go read Jules blog if you haven't, it is far far better writing than this piece of drivel will ever be.
Next up is my favorite picture ever associated with an award. The One Awe-Suuuum Blog award from the love bird herself, Cora! If you haven't been keeping up with the current Blogville Gazzette, Cora and another blogger Scope have fallen head over heels in love and are in the middle of trying to figure out how to combine their two-cities-far-apart lives into one that resembles the squares in the Brady Bunch.
Seriously, is that not the best damn photo ever? Thanks very much Cora, you rock!
Now I have a meme that I need to take care of because I was tagged not once but twice by the Queen of all that is Pop Culture, Becky, and by the quickest wit on Facebook, Robert Della Vecchia. Here goes:
Rules: Don't take too long to think about it. Fifteen movies you've seen that will always stick with you--NOT necessarily your favorites. FIRST fifteen you can recall in no more than 15 minutes.
Most of the movies that I have seen are kind of older, because since we have had Skyler we just don't get out very often anymore.
1. 2001 A Space Odyssey. 1969, and this movie came out when I really thought I wanted to be an astronaut. The first serious special effects movie that made you sit back and go wow.
2. One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest
3. Caddie Shack. One of the few movies I can quote almost all the lines from.
4. Airplane. I took a date to this and she was appalled. Didn't ever ask her out again because that showed me all I needed to know.
5. Airplane 2. Not as good as the original, but I loved the courtroom scene. "I don't think I'll ever be over Macho Grande".
6. Saving Private Ryan. While everyone else hated the opening scene because of the gore, the scene that affected me more was the 1 on 1 fight in the house.
7. ET. I am a complete sap for liking this, but I thought it was great.
8. Shrek. Laugh out loud funny, and has to be watched 3 times or more to catch all the subtle references.
9. Pulp Fiction. Loved Samuel Jackson, and the diner scene.
10. Star Wars. The next big step in special effects for me, and I am a fan of the entire series.
11. Star Trek, the motion picture. I am a major Trek fan, and when this movie came out I thought they might start the series again. All of the first 3 movies were good, then they started to tail off.
12. The Right Stuff. Great look behind the scenes of the early days in the space program.
13. The Music Within. Great stuff about the guy that wrote the Americans with Disabilities act, brilliant performances all around.
14. Monty Python's The Meaning of Life. Because every sperms a good sperm you know...
15. This spot reserved for all the great movies that have moved me, made me think, and my poor aging brain cells can't recall their names.
Seven quirky personality traits from The Jules at The Gravel Farm.
What's this? The Jules pops up once again? I must owe this man money or something...
The problem for me will be keeping this down to seven, but here goes:
1. I tend to lick my lips a lot because they get dry, and I really hate the feel of lip balms on them.
2. I tap my foot or wiggle my leg a lot, especially when I am impatient or waiting for somebody.
3. I absolutely cannot stand people who are always late for things. To me, they are saying their time is far more valuable than mine.
4. Like the fine man himself who tagged me, I prefer to be nude also. I sleep in the buff no matter the weather, because I am always warm. The less clothes the better.
5. I live in constant fear of not being able to provide for Skyler by being laid off or from dieing too soon. (my isn't that uplifting?)
6. I gravitate towards people who are much more fun than serious to be around. A thoughtful discussion is nice now and then, but I would much rather laugh like an idiot with a buddy over some old lady who farted in line in front of me.
7. I can remember some of the oddest, most worthless pieces of information you would ever want to know, but can't seem to retain anything important, like ue dates for my work and peoples names.
Satisfied Jules? My soul has been laid open wide for the rest of Blogitola...

This is absolutely the best list I have ever read!
ReplyDeleteI can relate to the fear of not being able to provide for your child, even though your circumstances are dramatically different than mine.
Every sperm is a good sperm, but not on my face.
I find new stuff in Shrek every time I watch it.
Can I add one thing to the list?
"Doing it" out in the snow, because there was no other place to "do it" at the time, and guess what. . . you won't actually freeze your balls off.

ReplyDelete"Every sperm is a good sperm, but not on my face."
LOL! I'm gonna be laughing about that all night.
I'm gonna do that movie list. I did a similar list for books not too long ago.
Great list!
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for not tagging anyone (aka me). While reading this, I was thinking, "Not me, please, not me!" ; )
Well you know that I have to cheer at your choice of Star Trek! Also, I loved Cuckoo's Nest. One of my all time favs.
ReplyDeletecatching up and cleaning out I see
ReplyDeletegreat awards, memes and list.
bucket list desire
sleep 8 hrs a night for one month straight.
think i would feel fantastic!
Interesting long post of many posts.
ReplyDeleteThe list of stuff done is very Americancentric and irritating for that fact. Who came up with this random list? Were they boasting about all the shit they'd done then passed it along to their buddy to compare notes and gloat?
Woo! It's memepalooza over here today. So, how does it feel to be so popular, Sky Dad?
ReplyDeleteOlder. Ha! Touche, my dear.
ReplyDeleteAha - I think you've mistaken me for Jules.
ReplyDeleteThat's why I have the "The" before my name, so everyone knows I am The Jules.
Obviously.
The Other Jules here :) Way to go you over-achiever!! Like Shrek, you rock!
ReplyDeleteThanks for doing the meem, but on the "Been on TV?" You might want to trim, "One of these days YouTube might force me to tell my story." off the answer.
ReplyDeleteYou might also want to 86 my answer to karaoke ; )
