A Wish For Wings That Work

A little over 2 years ago I had a torn rotator cuff in my right shoulder. I had surgery on it, it was supposed to be just a scoping, but it turned out to be a partial tear on one tendon and a complete tear of a second. So they had to cut me open and get things fixed up. The root of the problem was a bone spur that wore things away through time. That shoulder is doing quite well now and stronger than the left.

Now, in the past few weeks I have noticed some pain in the left shoulder, and got on this one right away. Same doc says that the MRI shows the same bone spur and another tear in the left shoulder.

Yeah, I guess I got the matching set!

Surgery is May 6th, here we go again...

  1. That stinks. The same thing happened to a friend of mine a few years back. Wishing you a speedy recovery from your surgery!

  2. maybe we can set you and Tina up with a nurse?!?

or maybe you two will like to share the same hospital room since you'll both be having surgery?

  3. oh, good grief!

Ya see, THIS sorta' stuff blows that whole "itelligent design" biz right out the window!! That and bad knees, bad backs, crudball eyesight... It's like the Gallagher routine when he talks about the human nose: "who would put a wet, drippy thing like that upside down over your MOUTH?! If the Health Dept saw that, you'd have 30 days to fix it or shut it down!!"

  4. Hoo. I hope it goes well for you! Surgery of any kind just ain't much fun.

  5. Ouch! Hope all goes well.

Kim is looking at a similar surgery soon for a rotator cuff torn in a fall. We're planning around it, since she'll need extra help getting around.

Wow - that stinks. Give me your credit card and check book and I'll take care of your finances while you're laid up. You can trust me :)

  7. Thanks for the well wishes MM!

Teri: A nurse would be good, as long as I get to pick instead of Tina. ;^)
Of course if that doesn't work out, I still have one good arm to provide Tina with sponge baths...

Captain: Intelligent Design and my body should be considered an oxymoron.

    Thanks Chris!

JY: Good luck to Kim, I hope hers goes well. My right shoulder that was fixed awhile back is better than ever, so tell her to hang in there.

Suze: Too bad, I just sent all my info to that nice man from Nigeria who has a lot of money he needs to send my way!

  13. Geeze, that's horrible. That's the number one injury for volleyball players for obvious reasons - but I'm trying to figure out how that applies to runners... maybe you swing your arms too much!

  14. Leonesse: Probably not enough...

TG: I hear our surgery dates are almost the same!

Beth: Sleeping after the surgery is what really sucks, you just can't get comfortable.

    GKL: Two words: bone spurs!

  15. Awww having just recovered from surgery myseklf you have my utmost sympathy. Get Percoset...it really does help with the sleeping. Tylonol 3 just doesn't cut it.
What's with all the bone spurs? Are you trying to mutate?

Tell that doctor that you better be able to hug as good as ever. Seriously. This is important stuff!

    Best of luck.

  18. Raven: If I was going to mutate, I would work on looking a lot better instead of growing bone spurs! ;^)

  19. Ouch. OUCH.

Good luck with the surgery! Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery!

Surgical errors are all the rage these days. Just don't go in for a shoulder operation and come out with a sex change.

  21. Thanks for the well-wishes Bubs.

Kirby: You mean a second sex change?
