Elephant Birth; or how I learned to kick my kid into the world.

This is a rather graphic video to watch, but I wanted to share it because I thought it was fascinating! Graphic footage of the first ever elephant birth filmed in Bali, Indonesia. The founder of the Elephant Safari Park at Taro, Bali, Nigel Mason talks us through the experience.

  1. I gave birth to triplets. I still think THAT might have possibly been a little more freaky!!

    Possibly!

  3. I felt bad that the baby had to drop onto a cement floor.

I gave birth to twins naturally - without having any labour pains - just contractions. I had incredible pain with my first kid so I don't have a clue how that happened.

  4. I will never again complain about giving birth to my 9 pound daughter. Amen.

That being said, oh God, when mama elephant entwined trunks with the baby and got her breathing, I just about cried my eyes out!

  6. OUCH! I feel her pain!
Couldn't they have given Mom and baby a nice thick bed of straw for this? They really had to let baby drop onto a cement floor? And try to get footing on wet cement?

They should show baby this video when he starts to complain about Mom's cooking.

  12. Dude, that was amazing. Gross - I had to squint my eyes a couple times - but amazing. I've never given birth, but I'll never complain about a big poo again.
