Long distance Thanksgiving

We stayed at home this year for Thanksgiving, just the three of us.  It was really pretty nice, no pressure to make a bunch of stuff or have the happy family moments.  But we did do the high tech version of the holiday by setting up the laptop and Skyping with Kathy's sister and hubby who were hosting the big shindig back outside of Seattle.

Skyler thought it was pretty cool, getting to watch DVDs and watch the party at the same time.  He is nothing if not a multitasker...

  1. Ahh, a stress-free holiday! I wonder what that's like? ; )

My mom and I both got webcams and Skype for when my CO niece's baby comes in Feb.

    Technology ROCKS! : )

  2. Happy Thanksgiving! We kept it simple too. It was just our family, but when our maid (from the Phillipines, who has never celebrated with a big turkey dinner before) said she was free, we invited her to dine with us. Very nice :)

Staying home for Thanksgiving, I hope that trend catches on.

  4. Skype can be a pretty nifty thing at times, can't it? I had my doubts about it at first, but after watching my daughter making skeleton dolls dance in front of the webcam and making her half-siblings scream with delight from over 2000 miles away, my old grinchy heart grew three sizes, I swear.

    All together now: AWWWWWWWWWW.

  5. I will not be at my parent's home for Chirstmas. I secretly set them up with Skype on one of their laptops. That way, I can at least make a camio.

  6. That's really cool. I'd like to spend all my holidays that way...A safe distance from my extended family.
