NSCD
We haven't been able to get up and ski this year due to Skyler's back surgery. Our surgeon, Dr Chang is a volunteer at the National Sports Center for the Disabled at Winter Park, and knows we love to ski at their program. He told us please don't go up this year, he doesn't want any pounding on his fine work!
But we still donate money to the program, because of what they have done for Skyler, and because if you are looking for a good charity, this one is staffed almost entirely by volunteers. They donate their time, effort, gas money and all for no pay. Just payment in smiles from someone who for just a little while, gets to be like everyone else.
Here are a couple of pictures that are pretty cool, first Skyler up skiing in a sit-ski:
Next is a picture I scanned in from their newsletter that I thought looked way cool:
And these last are images of their posters that send a nice message:

Great program! And that sit-ski looks like a rad time!
ReplyDeleteI love the poster of the seeing-eye dog...
ReplyDeleteTheir posters are amazing, beautifully done. But the photo of Skyler is one of the best photos I've seen in months — and I work in the creative industry.
ReplyDeleteGB: Yes it is a fun time, Skyler loves it!
ReplyDeleteChris: That's a cool poster, I like the sit-ski best just cause we do that a lot.
Beth: I will send you another pic!
I am scared to ski, it's the speed. I hate it. Most of the ski patrol people at Winter Park know me. They had to keep taking me off the mountains on the snow mobiles because I would not ski down. God Bless Skylar that he has the courage!
ReplyDeleteMy niece is involved with a similar program on the east coast. Good organizations.
ReplyDeletewhat a terrific organization!
ReplyDeleteSkyler looks HAWT! Shred it!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of a program like that...that's just too cool. I'll have to see if they have something like that around here. The girls and I can all ski and I would love to do something like that!
ReplyDeleteI see these riders on the slopes from time to time, they are always passing me.
ReplyDeleteI love the climbing ad too.
Sounds like a great program. Hopefully you guys can ski next winter.
