How does a costume work with a chair?
Kristi's great post about her top 5 costumes/movies set me on a search for all of the Halloween stuff we have done with Skyler. It took awhile, but I found most of them.
When he was little, it was mostly the same as all of the other little dudes, store bought stuff:
Then we started trying to figure out what to do with his wheelchair, and try and incorporate his costume into the chair. First he was Pat Sajak, host of Wheel of Fortune!
Then he was a chef:
Then there was Jeff Gordan, race car driver:
And one of my favs, the rock drummer!
And the last, the kid in a hot tub:
The one I am missing is an early one from around first grade where we made him into a Front End Loader, with PVC pipe. The film got lost in developing - damn!

I wish I was that clever...how cute.
ReplyDeleteThose were great!
ReplyDeleteOne year, when Adam was four or five, we asked him what he wanted to be for Halloween. He told us "I want to be Darth Vader, because Darth Vader is EVIL and EVIL is STRONG!"
Hard to believe he turned out to be such a sweet-tempered kid...just keep the light sabers away from him.
He must have liked the costumes too, because Skyler is smiling in all the pictures.
ReplyDeleteyou two are the most talented parents!
ReplyDeleteThey were fabulous.
friends, that is brilliant. Just bloody brilliant!!
ReplyDeleteHow much of a Daddy Tax do you charge for costume assembly and neighbourhood-wheeling? I get AT LEAST first pick of whatever's in the bucket.
Excellent! Perhaps something relating to a washing machine next?
ReplyDeleteDirty: Thanks, in retrospect, it was a hell of a lot of work!
ReplyDeleteJY: Those are probably not the words you wanted to hear out of your sons mouth, eh?
Cheer: Skyler always smiles at cameras!
Teri: Thanks a lot!
BO: The best part is that Skyler can't eat most of what he gets, and it doesn't really bother him. I get my pick!
Chris: Great idea... He he he
I liked the hot tub one the best. Way cool.
ReplyDeleteBtw, what did he get that he could eat? Can he have any candy?
ReplyDeleteHow about black jack dealer, bartender, or Benihana chef this year?
ReplyDeleteDick: The hot tub one was Skylers favorite, it sure took a long time though... He can eat only really soft stuff, which isn't a lot of candy.
ReplyDeleteKirby: Great ideas! Skyler is 16 now and "too cool" for trick or treating. Give him some time to get through this phase, then we can start again.
Those are awesome. Looks like he had a blast.
ReplyDeleteI always hated Halloween because I hate dressing up.
I was a crab-ass before my time.
This totally rocks SkyDad! I think you told me he's not into dressing up anymore. It's that stage where it's not cool but I'm sure it'll come back to him someday and then...
ReplyDeleteThe Captain's Chair awatis!
Make him watch every episode of Star Trek TOS now so he can get into character.
Grant: I am trying to imagine you a a young crab ass... I bet when you were forced to dress up you wore your lab coat, didn't you?
ReplyDeleteGKL: The captains chair - why the hell didn't I think of that!
I LOVE the hot tub, it rules. Very clever costumes...
ReplyDeletethose are awesome!!! i like the hut tub!!!
ReplyDeleteEllen and That Girl:Thanks a bunch, we had a lot of fun with that one!
